Godha Movie Review

The Tovino Thomas starrer film Godha has finally hit the theaters. The film is the directorial venture of Kunjiramayanam director Basil Joseph. The film has Wamiqa Gabbi playing the female lead role in the film and Renji Panicker plays an important role in the film.

The film is set in the backdrop of wrestling. The film is about the story of the village Kannadikkal. kannadikkal is a place which was once known for its wrestlers, later as time passed by youngsters shifted their mind towards sports like Cricket and hence wrestling lost its fame on the Village. Renji Panicker plays the father of Tovino in the film. Renji Panicker is seen as a Wrestling teacher in the film who was once a good wrestler. Tovino`s character name is Anjaneya Das, Anjaneya Das is also not much interested in wrestling, and Renji Panicker is a character who doesn`t like youngsters playing cricket and wants them to focus on Wrestling. Tovino gets a chance to study in University of Punjab. He reaches Punjab and meets Warniqa Gabbi. Wamiqa Gabbi`s character Adithi Singh hails from a typical Punjabi family, Adithi wants to become a Wrestling Champion but her family is against her, especially her brother who is a police officer doesn`t want her to see doing wrestling. In the meantime, some circumstances lead Adithi to Tovino`s Village and what happens next forms the crux of the story of the film.

The crafting of Basil Joseph is appreciable as he has done a brilliant job in the film, one thing to be appreciated is that the director has managed to implement a steady pace in the film. Both the first and second half of the film are equally entertaining and fun filled and you cannot distinguish whether which one, the first or second half was the best. The film has natural comedies and will be liked by everyone. Godha can be called as a female-oriented film as Wamiqa Gabbi has more strong character and the film is about her.. Wamiqa has some great wrestling sequences. Tovino has well executed his role and has a couple of Wrestling sequence. Renji Panicker has stunned everyone with his performance in the film and the director has also shown the emotions of a father and son relationship. Thus the film has some action, love, emotions and comedy making it a clean entertainer. Godha also gives you some goosebump moments along with humorous ones. Aju Varghese also has done a good job in the film playing Tovino`s cousin. Sreejith Ravi plays a character with a negative shade and has done a good job. Dharmajan also entertained the audience.

The background score for the film is by Shaan Rahman and has done a great job. Vishnu Sharama has handled the Cinematography and has managed to capture some great frames from Punjab and also from the Village in Kerala where the film`s plot start.

FINAL VERDICT: A Clean entertainer with an equally entertaining first and second half.
